About

Susan is a technical program & product manager, engineer, and entrepreneur based in San Francisco, CA. My day job is leading software teams to deliver a clean, modern electrical grid at SolarCity. Previously, I led teams across product management, user experience, development and quality assurance at Amazon Lab126, to deliver software seen by millions.

I’m also a failed startup founder seeking my next great idea. I’m currently attempting to learn some power systems engineering to deepen my understanding of the challenges in the solar industry. I’ve previously worked on air traffic control systems, building them for the FAA while at Lockheed Martin, and researching them while at NASA Ames Airspace Operations Laboratory.

My secret weapon is communication, starting by listening well to internal and external customers. I’ve called myself a technical leader, founder, researcher, system architect, system engineer, and quality assurance engineer. After my startup, my favorite job so far has been re-designing the flight service user interface (and its system architecture).

Outside work, I practice yoga, run a bit, read a lot, and am working on being a less terrible surfer.
